We are currently running an experimental study to support alternative interface configurations for the point ahead mechanism of LISA. In particular we are producing valuable real world data points of the alignment residuals that are achievable with a bonded interface (as compared to a bolted, adjustable one).

For this purpose we are performing repeated alignment and bonding processes on a PAAM dummy that is then scrutinized with autocollimator based metrology during the curing phase of the adhesive, and in subsequent thermal cycles.
